A series of novels by Ian B. These thousands year-old immensely intelligent machines give themselves their own names reflective of their distinctive personalities— witty, whimsical, quite absurd, but mainly nothing like the names humans would give each other. Claimed and altered by a non-human entity, naming becomes an act of consciousness, challenging our preconceptions of humanity in a post-human age.
